Massage as an effective form of therapy used in the treatment of pain

Summary
Massage is a treatment that is increasingly popular among modern man. It is a non-invasive, effective method and it allows to restore normal body functions. Massage has multidirectional effects - it supports natural immunity of the organism, reduces stress, nourishes tissues, allows to introduce body into the state of relaxation, and also helps to fight body pains. It is important to determine the effectiveness of this treatment in relation to the intended purpose of the cosmetic or wellness visit. The person performing the massage should be properly trained in this area, and contraindications and patient needs should be individually considered.
This article provides a brief historical outline of the treatment which is the massage and describes the effects of massage on the human body. It also contains the necessary informations on indications and contraindications to perform this treatment. The most popular types of massage used in cosmetology and wellness are described. In addition, a survey was conducted among 140 residents of the province of Silesia, the purpose of which was to obtain opinions of people using massage treatments.
