Summary
Kumquat fruits are a rich source of vitamins and minerals, as well as many other substances that have a beneficial effect on human health and the appearance of the skin. Regular consumption of kumquat helps to minimize the risk of numerous civilization diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. A unique feature of kumquat fruits, compared to all other citrus fruits, is that they are consumed whole, with the peel, which is a rich source of vitamins, first of all vitamin C. It can be consumed fresh, or more often in processed form. In addition to the significant nutritional and health-promoting values resulting from the possibility of direct consumption of kumquat fruits and products made from them, their multiple and valuable applications in cosmetics are also widely known. Preparations containing kumquat fruits extract have primarily cleansing, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. An important feature of kumquat fruits is its ability to improve skin elasticity by stimulating collagen production. Extracts from the fruits, also called golden orange, are included in many commercial cosmetic preparations for the care of mature, dry and excessively wrinkled skin, and thanks to the presence of a very characteristic essential oil, they are ingredients of a large number of perfume products.
