Summary
Introduction. Sensitive skin requires cosmetic products that provide effective care while maintaining a high level of safety.
Aim. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and the effects of a hydrogel facial mask containing hyaluronic acid, ectoine, allantoin, and vitamin E on skin hydration and firmness in individuals with sensitive skin.
Materials and methods. The hydrogel mask was prepared by radiation-induced polymer crosslinking. Product safety was assessed using patch tests performed volunteers. An application study was conducted on participants with sensitive skin. The mask was applied three times per week for 6 weeks. Skin hydration was evaluated using a corneometer, while skin firmness was assessed with an indentometer.
Results. No signs of skin irritation or allergic reactions were observed during the patch tests. After 6 weeks of regular application, a statistically significant increase in skin hydration and an improvement in skin firmness, reflected by a reduction in indentation depth, were observed. The greatest improvement in hydration was recorded among participants with lower baseline skin hydration levels.
Conclusions. The obtained results indicate that the developed hydrogel mask is safe and well tolerated by individuals with sensitive skin. Regular application of the product contributes to improved skin hydration and firmness, demonstrating its potential as an effective skincare product for sensitive skin.
