Skin care in the neonates and infants

Summary
The neonate and infant skin is thin and immature. The differences in the anatomy and physiology are seen in every skin layer, its appendages and skin nervous, vasculature and lymphatic systems. Delikate skin of newborns and infants needs dissimilar care than adult´s skin. Bathing and diapered skin care belongs to main skin care elements in neonates and infants. Both procedures should be carried out very delicate to avoid damaging of fragile skin structure and simultaneously provide children positive impulses that are crucial to proper child development. Cosmetics and topical skin care hygienic products for neonates and infants should be choosing especially carefully, because their skin doesn´t posses effective protective layer and is more exposed to chemical factors. Very important element of young children care, besides hygienic procedures is touch. The warm and tactile impulses that are perceived across the skin are key factors in establishing attachment bonds between children and their parents, it calm down children and give them sense of safeness.
