Summary
Modern medicine, physiotherapy and cosmetology enable us with many methods of scar correction. These might be divided into groups such as cosmetic, physiotherapeutical and instrumental, as well as pharmacological and surgical. All of them, unfortunately, aren´t fully effective that is why they are constantly being modified. They are often combined with two or more techniques of treatment so that the best effect is achieved. Each procedure of scar correction is to smoothen and improve the structure, to shallow (atrophied scars), improve its elasticity and to soften, and to make its colour look like healthy skin around.
This article is on cosmetic methods of smoothing hypertrophic scarsand keloids, shallowing of atrophic scar such us chemical peelings (TCA, AHA, BHA, PHA, retinoic acid), and overview of phrarmacological agents on scars is presented (silicone, corticosteroids, trimancinolon, complex preparations etc.).

Key words: hypertrophic scars, keloids, atrophic scars, farmacotheraphy, chemical scrubs
