Summary
From the earliest times cranberry was used at urinary tract disorders, against diarrhea and in the treatment of diabetes. The high content of vitamin C in cranberry fruit was the main cause of increasing its popularity among eighteenth-century sailors fighting with scurvy. Health promoting properties of cranberries are widely known, but it turns out that it also has a significant use in cosmetics. The reason for this is the presence in its chemical composition of many substances that have positive influence on functioning and thus the appearance of the skin. Extracts from cranberries are extremely rich, among others, in a number of valuable vitamins, micro- and macroelements, polyphenols and α-hydroxyacids. While the stones are the source of cold extruded green oil with a slightly nutty flavor. It includes characteristic for cranberry fruit microelements and unsaturated fatty acids which are the basic for this oil.
