Summary
Male pattern baldness affects approximately 50% of men. The main factor initiating the development of this disease is dihydrostestosterone, which is formed frome testosterone with the help of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. Whether a man develops baldness depends on the sensitivity of the androgen receptors in a given location. The disease more and more affects young men who seek help in trichology clinics. The numer of options available for treating hair loss is increasing. It includes non-invasive methods such as darsonvalization, LLLT phototherapy, oxygen infusion and invasive methods such as carboxytherapy, needle and micro-needle mesotherapy.
