Summary
Diabetes mellitus is one of the diseases that appear more and more frequently in society. It is a chronic disease with many health complications. The appearance of diabetes mellitus is the result of impaired functioning of the pancreas and inappropriate insulin secretion by it. Diabetes can be divided into two types depending on the cause of its development. According to the classification, we can distinguish immunological and idiopathic diabetes called type I diabetes, characterized by weakness and cachexia of the pancreasm, type II environmental diabetes associated with impaired work and insulin secretion, as well as LADA and diabetes mellitus in pregnant women. One of the most common symptoms of diabetes is hyperglycemia, i.e. too high blood glucose levels. In people with type II diabetes, the most dangerous complication is diabetic foot syndrome, which can be divided into neuropathic and ischemic. Diabetes significantly affects the functioning of the skin and its appendages, causing increased dryness, skin sensitivity, redness and itching.
Cosmetic treatments for diabetics should be performed only after excluding contraindications, with the consent of the doctor and careful examination of the client´s skin. The treatments that can be performed include moisturizing treatments, soothing irritation and redness, oxygenating and rebuilding the hydrolipid barrier. In addition to in-office care, the prophylaxis of people with diabetes also requires a proper diet, high physical activity and medical care. The aim of the study was to present the recommended home and office care for people with type I and II diabetes.
