The skin´s hydrolipid barrier is a protective layer composed of water and lipids. It is present in the superficial layer of the epidermis. It provides protection between body and external factors. Aim. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the women´s knowledge about the skin hydrolipid barrier. Material and method. The questionnaire study was conducted in the group of 307 females. Women were aged from 19 to 60 years of age. The questionnaire included 27 questions. Results. In the examined group, 120 women did not know about the existence and composition of the hydrolipid barrier, and 76 respondents were not aware of its´ structure. The factors that negatively impact the functioning of the hydrolipid barrier mainly mentioned by women were: insufficient skin hydration, usage of cosmetics containing alcohol, excessive exfoliation of the epidermis and genetic factors. Conclusions. Knowledge about the skin´s hydrolipid barrier and it´s functioning is good. Most respondents are aware of what factors negatively affect the epidermal barrier.
