Summary
Hirsutism is manifested by the occurrence of pathological excessive hair in androgen-dependent areas in women and children. Hypertrichosis, on the other hand, is a rare disease characterised by the presence of excessive terminal body hair in areas independent of androgen hormones. It can occur in both women and men. These diseases are complex health and aesthetic issues. Therefore, the treatment of these conditions should be based on the diagnosis of the cause and severity of the disease, and consequently also on the implementation of a therapeutic multidisciplinary treatment. The article brings up the problem of cosmetological procedures in hirsutism and hypertrichosis. It should be supplemented with supportive methods in the field of cosmetology focusing on the aesthetic elimination of the symptoms of the disease. Beauty salons currently offer a wide range of treatments that are additional therapeutic methods in hirsutism and hypertrichosis, including laser and IPL hair removal, electroepilation, ultrasound therapy, wax and sugar paste removal, with laser therapy considered the most effective.
