Summary
Introduction. Acne vulgaris is a chronic dermatological disease characterized by skin lesions such as comedo, papules and pustules. These changes may result in atrophic or hypertrophic scars.
Aim. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment of facial acne scars with dermabrasion.
Material and method. The questionnaire survey (based on 27 questions) was conducted from September 2023 to February 2024 on a group of 81 people who decided to undergo a dermabrasion treatment to reduce facial acne scars. Most of the respondents were women (77 people). The respondents were aged 18 to 47.
Results. The vast majority of respondents (72.9%) were satisfied with the results achieved with dermabrasion. Over 70% of respondents declared that they would undergo a series of dermabrasion treatments again. Most respondents would recommend this type of treatment to their friends (66.7%).
Conclusions. Facial acne scars cause a significant medical problem. Dermabrasion treatment is an effective, safe and rather painless method of reducing facial acne scars. Dermabrasion improves the appearance of facial skin and has a positive effect on patients´ well-being.
