Technology for tablets of modified profile of release containing dry plant extracts (of aphrodisiac activity), amino acids and vitaminsWojciech A. Linka Zakład Technologii Postaci Leku. Katedra Farmacji Stosowanej Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi Summary Aim. There were produced oral solid forms of a drug of modified release profile (prolongatum). Dry plant extracts of scientifically proved aphrodisiac, adaptogenic and tonicizing activity. Amino acid salts with biometals and vitamins were also added. Material and methods. A few versions of formulated tablets were obtained containing dry plant extracts (Schisandra chinensis, Panax ginseng, Muira puama, Paullinia cupana, Valeriana officinalis), magnesium hydrogen aspartate and pyridoxine hydrochloride. These versions differed in the composition of adjuvant substances. Morphological and technological parameters of the produced tablets were determined. Basing on spectrophotometric measurements, pharmaceutical availability was determined of biologically active substances from the above preparations. Results. Tablets of modified release profile (prolongatum) contained among others: Carbopol 71 GNF, Hydroxypropylcellulose. All formulation versions of tablets presented morphological and technological parameters in accordance with the binding standards. Pharmaceutical availability was determined in 0.1N HCl using basket method. Conclusions. 1. The presence of mannitol in the prescription composition causes faster release of active substances from a prolongatum tablet. 2. Predominance of carbopol over hydroxypropylcellulose in the formulation causes decrease of biologically active substances release from the tablet. 3. Predominance of hydroxypropylcellulose over carbopol in the formulation causes increase of biologically active substances release from the tablet. 4. The rate of biologically active substances release is directly proportional to the tablet swelling and hydrogelating surface area.
