Therefore, this element can be found in many kinds of cosmetic products of various applications. These can be green eye shadows, powders, soaps and also cosmetics containing sea algae or aloe extracts. Chromium (III) is also an ingredient of microelements sets used during mesotherapy. It is specified as an antioxidant and agent that decreases skin pigmentation. However, this element appears usually as ingredient as dietary supplements and new kind of products - nutricosmetics. According to manufacturers of those products, addition of chromium (III) will make slimming easier and promote increase of the muscular mass. Mechanism for the action of chromium lies in its influence on glucose metabolism. Maintaining the right level of this element in organism is supposed to suppress the appetite for sweets and therefore lead to loose weight. Additional action of this element rests on its influence on lowering serum cholesterol level. Taking dietary supplements and nutricosmetics containing chromium (III) compounds, is supposed to simplify modeling slim and therefore attractive, according to popular belief, silhouette.
