Summary
Ayurveda called as "the complete knowledge for long life" has been known for 5 000 years and is connected with health and skin care. According to Indian medicine skin is treated as the multi-dimensional organ which depends on physical, mental and spirituals factors. The most important aim of Ayurveda is the elimination of all artificial compounds, which should not be eaten, as the compounds for skin care. The traditional ayurvedic techniques are based on the purification, the nourishment and the protection of human skin.
Bad habits, the pollution of the environment and modified food negatively affect the health and human skin. Therefore the proper care and treatment of the body, and the healthy life style are the most important factors in skin functioning.
According to Indian medical practice each human possesses "the energy genetic code" called prakriti which sets the person´s physical constitution, human nature. These three biological forces (energies): vata, pitta and kapha manifest themselves in the body as the doshas. Prakriti is permanent, but the state of the doshas can change. The disruptions of harmony between them can cause health problems, as well as the skin defects. Ayurveda specifies the source of all skin lesions and suggests methods for their reduction.
