Plays an important role in the metabolism of every cell. Regulates the biosynthesis of proteins and DNA replication. Activates many enzymes and therefore affects the transmission of information in the cell and intracellular respiration process. Too low level of magnesium in the body may cause muscle spasms, trembling eyelids, impaired concentration and increased susceptibility to stress. Hypomagnesemia may increase allergic reactions of the skin. These changes can be prevented by a diet rich in products containing magnesium, if necessary supplemented with available supplements. Numerous cosmetic preparations such as creams, powders or masks contains magnesium compounds. They can perform various functions such as moisturizing or nourishing and provide the appropriate physical and chemical properties. Clays, mineral/thermal waters and plant extracts used in the manufacture of cosmetics, or as a cosmetic ingredient also include magnesium. They are also used materials such as chocolate and honey. Magnesium regulates the metabolism of keratinocytes and fibroblasts and synthesis of collagen and elastin. Therefore it determines the firmness and elasticity of the skin preventing premature aging.
