Evaluation of acne vulgaris treatment among youth

Summary
Introduction. Acne vulgaris is believed to be the most common skin disease and relates to the sebaceous follicle. Nowadays there are few therapy schemes available. Apart from treatment prescribed by dermatologist many cosmetics and other procedures are possible to perform in cosmetologist or aesthetic medicine clinics.
Aim. The aim of the paper was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of therapy and to determine the frequency of specialist treatment introduced of acne vulgaris.
Material and method. The questionnaire studies were performed in the group of 83 women who had or have problems with acne vulgaris. The mean age was 17.5 years of live. The questionnaire included 31 questions, in the first part questions were related to demographic data and in the second mainly were connected to such information as: who prescribed treatment, what therapy it was and what the results were.
Results. The dermatology treatment was introduced in 36% of respondents. Mostly local therapy was ordered; general treatment included 20% of women. Respondents were satisfied with the obtained results. All women answered positively to question related to connection between the presence of acne vulgaris and bad influence on social and emotional aspects in their live.
Conslusions. The results of dermatologist´s and cosmetologist´s treatment are evaluated as good. Acne vulgaris influences negatively on social and emotional aspects of life in young women.
