Influence of diamond microdermabrasion on oily skin functions

Summary
Introduction. Microdermabrasion is one of the most popular ways of mechanical skin exfoliation that are performed in beauty parlours, both in monotherapy as well as in polytherapy. The whole series of the therapy is advisable in various epidermis´s and dermis´s defects.
Aim. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of diamond microdermabrasion on oily skin functioning and subjective analysis of the patients´ feelings.
Material and method. 16 women at the age of 18-30 took part in the research which consisted of one series of diamond microdermabrasion. It was affirmed that all of them had oily skin. Each series was composed of 7 procedures, every 10-14 days. The research method was a survey created for the purpose of it. The survey was divided into pre-procedure and post-procedure part.
Results. All of the interviewees regarded their skin condition as better or very good. What is more, 81% of them claimed to have noticed considerable improvement of their skin condition, especially when compared to the pre-procedure state. For the most of them, clinical improvement of the skin condition was possible to notice after 3-4 treatments. The reduction of blackheads was particularly noticeable. Most of the patients did not report on side effects. 94% of the interviewees are willing to undergo the treatment in the future.
Conclusion. One series of diamond microdermabrasion can significantly reduce the problems resulting from seborrhea, especially in terms of comedones reduction.
