Cosmetic treatment of manual blackheads extraction - analysis of brand outline procedural prescriptions - market research

Summary
Introduction. Manual skin cleansing (blackheads extraction) is known and very popular cosmetic procedure in Poland. Extraction is performed due to mechanical wresting of content blackhead filling by skin pressing by fingers. The treatment is executed on particularly prepared skin, so very little disturbance of epidermal barrier is done. Currently cosmetologists community is split into apologists and opponents of manual skin cleansing. Moreover, the division concerns both cosmetologists and dermatologists. Certain part of beauty salons discontinued these kind services. Despite it, a lot of professional cosmetics assigned for such treatments in salons are still present on polish market and they are recommended by their producers and distributors. Producers advise such cosmetics application according to established and preferred procedures consisted of sequence of treatments according to brand outline procedural prescriptions.
Aim. The aim of the investigation was analysis of correctness of brand outline procedural prescriptions concerning blackheads extraction suggested by firms and indication of the most common errors as well.
Conclusions. 1. Performance of any procedure of blackheads extraction cannot be done without influence on epidermal barrier. 2. Brand procedural outlines include certain errors in suggested sequences of cosmetic treatments execution and their order. The most common are: a) recommended massage just after blackheads extraction, b) recommended sonophoretical introduction of active substances to the skin immediately after blackheads extraction.
