Aesthetic medicine permits to correct congenital body deformities, as well as to improve smaller imperfections of beauty. This field of medicine is already popular in other developed countries. In Poland this medical area still intensive expands. Aim. The aim of this publication is to examine readiness to undergo aesthetic medicine procedures among adults, to investigate motivating factors and to detect the most popular treatments. Material and method. The study was attended by 154 people between 16 and 80 years old. They replied to 10 questions in the survey. Questionnaire was divided into two parts: the first contained demographic data, the second included questions closely related to aesthetic medicine. Results. A negative approach to aesthetic medicine procedures is due to insufficient knowledge about them. The most popular interventions are hialuronic acid and botox injection. People perform these procedures in order to increase self-esteem, also to improve the quality of proffessional and personal life. Key words: aesthetic medicine, plastic surgery, cosmetic procedures |
