Summary
Fragrances used in manufacturing of perfumes and cosmetics are derived from natural sources: from plants or animals. Difficulty in obtaining raw materials from natural sources and high cost of their receipt cause that industry increasingly uses the synthetic substances. Raw materials of plant origin are derived from all parts of plant, from which oils, hydrolates, absolutes, resinoids, extracts, pomades, concretes, resins and balsams can be obtained. They can be introduced into the fragrance composition of perfumes and cosmetics from oriental line in the following form: tincture (e.g. vanilla, Tonka bean), absolute (e.g. oakmoss, Tonka bean), resinoid (e.g. labdanum, myrrh, frankincense, opoponax, styrax). The following essential oils are used: sandalwood, patchouli, ambrette, cinnamon bark, ginger and olibanum. They introduce into fragrance composition of oriental group products warm, sweet, resinous and balsamic smell with wood and animal notes.
