Evaluation of effectiveness of diamond microdermabrasion

Summary
Introduction. Skin resurfacing and rejuvenation techniques have experienced significant advances in the last few decades and new devices are continuously being introduced into the marketplace. One method to improve skin appearance is microdermabrasion, during which the layers of dead epidermis are abraded.
Aim. The aim of the paper was to evaluate the effectiveness of diamond microdermabrasion.
Material and method. The questionnaire studies were performed in the group of 50 people (43 women and 7 men) in the age between 21-60 years, who underwent microdermabrasion procedure. The questionnaire included 31 questions.
Results. The reasons why respondents decided for performing microdermabrasion included problems with complexion and curiosity. Most of questionnaired people were satisfied with obtained results and admitted that microdermabrasion improved their psychical comfort.
Conslusions. Diamond microdermabrasion is safe cosmetologic procedure. The level of satisfaction after microdermabrasion is high. The main motivations for performing diamond microdermabrasion in the examined group were to improve the face aesthetic and to restore the balance of seborrheic complexion.
