Perfumery products are very rich compositions consisting of various fragrances, natural and synthetic, belonging to many chemical groups. Fragrance substances cause among others nettle-rash, allergic contact dermatitis, photoallergic reactions. According to current EU requirements, the packaging of a perfume must contain fragrance ingredients belonging to 26 potential allergens. Aim. Analyse the contents of selected perfumery products for women and for men in respect of fragrance allergens. Material and method. 16 most liked and 16 disliked fragrances were chosen based on ratings on an internet site (wizaz.pl). The contents (INCI) of perfumery products (Eau de toilette) for women and for men were analyzed. Results. In most perfumery products there are at least a few potential allergens. There are slightly more in men´s toilet waters than in women´s products. The most common allergen in fragrances for women are Limonene and Alpha-isomethyl ionone, and in products for men - Linalool and Limonene. The number of fragrance allergens does not influence the ratings of consumer. Conclusion. Most perfumery products contain at least several potential allergen fragrances, but there are also products without such components.
