On the skin it manifests itself in the form of a red-brown clod, covered with a silvery scale. It is accompanied by a number of characteristic symptoms, among others Köbner´s, Auspitz´s symptom or stearic candle symptom. Many factors influence the development of the disease, however, a key element in the etiopathogenesis of the disease is the disturbed process of keratinization - parakeratosis. Genetic, immune and environmental factors also contribute. The main task of skin care in the course of psoriasis is to improve the functioning of the disturbed epidermal barrier. It is recommended to use emollients, which work by limiting transepidermal water loss and softening of thick psoriatic scales. It is also important to use keratolytic, anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antibacterial agents. Due to the inflammatory nature of the disease, psoriasis is a contraindication to most cosmetic procedures. It is possible to perform soothing, moisturizing and regenerating treatments, while it is forbidden to perform mechanical exfoliation of the epidermis, manual facial cleansing and waxing or sugar paste. The combination of systematic care and proper therapy allows to alleviate the course of the disease and to reduce efflorescence on the skin, which is why patients are advised to use topical medications. If the local therapy does not bring satisfactory results, general treatment begins. Phototherapy, or light treatment, also brings beneficial effects. Key words: psoriasis, skin care, dermocosmetics |
