With high osmotic pressure, it provides moisture to the skin and creates a protective barrier. Honey improves blood flow in the skin tissue, improving its nutrition and as a result the skin becomes more oxygenated and elastic, and the wrinkles become shallower and smoother. The antioxidant properties of honey enable its use as a means of destroying free radicals, responsible inter alia for cell aging processes. Honey also has antimicrobial properties. Scientific research has confirmed its effectiveness in relation to 60 species of bacteria, fungi and viruses. Honey also has anti-inflammatory effects and accelerates wound healing. In cosmetology, bee honey is used for the production of creams, nourishing face masks, lipsticks, soaps, lotions for the face and baths, shampoos, balms and hair conditioners. Due to the presence of many bioactive ingredients contained in honey, it is used in many skin diseases. An example is the use of honey in the treatment of: acne, atopic dermatitis, cancer and psoriasis.
