Alizarin pigments - synthesis and propertiesZygmunt Boruszczak Instytut Technologii Polimerów i Barwników, Politechnika Łódzka Summary The pigment madder lake synthesis was carried out by color lacking with salts of calcium, strontium and tin on a composite carrier Al(OH)3/talc. Following the reaction we obtained red pigments with blue tones (Ca2+, Mg2+, Sr2+) and yellow tones (Sn2+, Sn4+), which were subjected to resistance and utility tests. It was found that such pigments have high resistance to light, water, non-polar solvents and high temperatures (160-170°C). Moreover, powders of synthesized dyes are characterized by soft texture and are easy dispersible in many organic binders. These advantages, simple production technology and health-promoting aspects of creating a big potential of such pigments in color cosmetics.
