The cosmetic industry is highly developing sector in the modern economic market. Due to the increasing access to knowledge about cosmetic components, wide selection and common availability to skin care cosmetics, it is important to match these products to the individual needs of one´s skin type. Aim. The aim of study was to examine which ingredients are mainly noticed by cosmetic drugstore customers. Material and methods. The study consisted of conducting an anonymous online survey among random respondents. Additionally, an interview was conducted among the employees of stationary cosmetic drugstore, in order to obtain opinions on the gender of their customers. Results. The most popular components among respondents were vitamin C (18%), hyaluronic acid (15%), ceramides (10%) and retinol (10%).The most frequently chosen cosmetics were moisturizing products (14%), especially day creams (30%). The main factors determining the purchase of skin care products were matching them to the individual needs of one´s skin type (19%), price (13%), opinion on the Internet (12%) and finally the ingredients of the cosmetic (11%). Most of the respondents take care to buy products containing sunscreens (64%). Conclusions. Customers look for vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, ceramides and retinol in their skin care products. Most of the respondents take care to buy sunscreens. The most frequently chosen cosmetics were moisturizing products, especially day creams.
