Summary
One of the factors contributing of common acne (acne vulgaris) is next to seborrhea and excessive keratinization bellows, the presence of microorganisms (Propionibacterium acnes).
Propionibacterium acnes are a relatively anaerobic bacteria, physiologically occurring on the surface of the skin, nasopharyngeal and in the mouth. With the impairment of the immune system and the excessive development they become infecting skin parasites causing also an inflammation. They participate in the conversion microcomedo into inflammatory papule. It was proved that there is a correlation between the reduction of the number of Propionibacterium acnes, and improvement of patients´ clinical status.
One of the protective mechanisms against bacterial infections of the skin is to produce an acid hydro-lipid coat. Proper skin´s pH level should be around 5.5. Skin´s surface pH witch shifts towards more alkaline values can encourage bacterial infections, including Propionibacterium acnes.
The aim of this study was to assess the impact of acne treatment and skin care products on skins pH level.

Key words: skin care products, acne vulgaris, epidermis pH
