Summary
Introdution. Cosmetic apparatus is the one of the fastest growing disciplines of cosmetology today. It´s hard to imagine any beauty salon, aesthetic medicine or surgery without modern equipment. However, please note that all treatments and other cosmetic procedures performed using the medical equipment has its undoubted advantages, but also are subject to adverse reactions.
Aim. The present study investigated the effect of galvanizing and darsonvalization the pH of the skin of volunteers.
Method. The measurements were performed using a pH meter HI 98109 (Hanna Instruments) with an accuracy of 0.01 pH units.
Results. Galvanization leads to a reduction in pH of the skin as an electrode active if we use the anode. However the use of the cathode leads to the alkalization of the skin. The size of this effect appears to be related to the intensity of the electricity used during treatments. Double-increasing intensity of the current causing even stronger impact on the balance of acid-base skin. Darsonvalization decreases the pH of the stratum corneum volunteers to 0.33 pH units.
Conclusion. Knowledge of the impact of current treatments on the pH of the skin can be used to enhance their efficiency and to avoid possible risks of skin alkalinization in the context of an unfavorable development of bacterial flora.
