Excessive tanning can be related with early complications - sunburns or late ones - the risk of neoplasms development. Nowadays more and more common is tanning in sunbeds. The lamps from solariums emit much more harmful UVA radiation in comparison with the sun.

Material and method. The questionnaire studies were performed in the group of 55 women who attend solarium. The age was from 18 to 45 years of life. The questionnaire included 29 questions.
Results. More than half of the respondents (55%) attend sunbed few times a month. The most frequent answer for question how long last the single stay in solarium was from 5 to 10 minutes. The main motivations for tanning were the need of relaxation and to enhance own attractiveness. All women declared the will of continuing the habit of tanning in sunbeds.
Conclusions. The main motivation for tanning in solarium is to enhance own attractiveness. These reasons remain the same during years and are similar to those described in literature. It seems that the frequency of sunbeds usage and time intended for tanning are rising.
