Summary
Growing interest in natural cosmetics is observed in the cosmetic industry. In recent years, whey is more and more used as a cosmetic ingredient, and especially whey proteins. Due to the functional properties (water binding, creating of lasting foams and emulsifying properties) these proteins are used as substitutes for synthetic surface active substances in the formulations of many cosmetics. Whey proteins are components of i.a. creams, lotions, shampoos, fluids for feminine hygiene and detergents. The use of natural materials, i.e. whey, in cosmetic formulations allows primarily to improve the effectiveness of cosmetics. Simultaneously, this is one of the possibilities of whey utilization, as a by-product in the dairy industry. It is worth emphasizing that it is raw material readily available on the Polish market throughout the year.
