Summary
Introduction. Body composition examination plays an important role in the analysis of all the human body component contents; it allows evaluation of the fat tissue level in healthy people or those with the nutrition level disorder and it becomes an efficient prevention tool against civilization-related diseases.
Aim. Examine the body components in a selected group of women enjoying the beauty salon services.
Material & method. The examination was attended by 40 beauty salon clients at the age from 18 to 55 years. The BC 418 MA type body composition analyzer from TANITA was applied for the examination using the BIA method for the body components analysis. The examination is supplemented with the proprietary inquiry questionnaire, basing on which the physical activity and nutrition habits, as well as the changes relating to the age, obesity or other body structure anomalies in the respondents were evaluated. The inquiry was anonymous and it included 20 questions.
Results. The highest value FFM 77.7% and TBW 57%, has the youngest age group, i.e. 18-22 years, simultaneously this group has the lowest fat tissue level - 22.3%. Together with the age the fat tissue level increases, and total water contents in a body decreases.
Conclusions. The higher BMI the more fat tissue and the less fatless tissue (especially water). The body component proportions change together with the age. The FFM & TBW masses decrease and the fat tissue mass increases. The fat tissue increase means its deposition at the stomach area mainly, which causes a risk of subsequent metabolic disorders. The electric bio-impedance method is easy, non-invasive and very efficient body component analysis technique that allows monitoring of the body component quantitative changes.
