Assesement of knowlege of cosmetologists about health hazards occurring in their professional work

Summary
Introduction. A great ammount of harmful factors with which the cosmetologist contacts in the professional work can be a cause of occupational disease.
Aim. The aim of the work was the evaluation of knowlege of cosmetic practitioners about health hazards occurr in their professional work and the prevention them and also the frequency of occurance of various physical complaints.
Material and methods. The study was conducted by using of questionnaire survey with the participation of 100 people working in beauty parlors.
Results. In 6 surveyed beauticians/cosmetologists occur occupational skin diseases and 76% had painless spine pain classified as parasitic diseases.
Conclusions. The respondents did not have full knowlege about the health hazards in the profession of cosmetologist. It was found a higher level of knowlege about harmful factors and occpational diseases in bachelors and cosmetology masters than in post-secondary school beauticians. Most of the respondents had theoretical knowlege of prophylaxis of infections and occupational diseases but not always used in practice. It is recommended to carry out systematic training on occupational infections and diseases and the ways of preventing them from workers in beauty parlors.
