Nursing homes are a crucial component of the long-term care system. The consequence of the increasing numbers of old people is a larger number of persons who need or will need to stay at nursing homes. Aim. Recognize the needs of elderly from nursing homes in the range of diagnostic procedures and cosmetic treatments and to analyze their influence on patient´s well-being. Material and methods. The study was conducted in one of nursing care home from Lodz. The examined group consisted of 36 patients (22 females and 14 males) aged from 45 to 94. Skin examination and eyelids functioning were performed. Additionally the level of patients´ satisfaction was checked after the performance of manicure procedure. Results. In 25% of patients the skin lesions typical for age were present. The majority of people (60%) were diagnosed with upper eyelid pseudoptosis. All persons who had their manicure done were satisfied with this procedure. Conclusions. It was concluded that the manicure raise the comfort of patients´ life, who stay in nursing homes.
